    Lebanese Army executes Syrian amputee

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Radhwan Mohammed al-Issa, 29, an amputee Syrian refugee, was never visited by Lebanese politicians to present him with a wheelchair, crutches or artificial limbs to help him move around inside al-Nour camp at the outskirts of Arsal on the Syrian-Lebanese border.

No Lebanese cultural, artistic or public figures congratulated him on his recent marriage, where all he could provide his bride with is a tent which contains nothing but the hope of life.

On the morning of Friday, June 06, 2017, Lebanon decided to visit Radhwan for the first time in his place of refuge in al-Nour refugee camp in the form of the Lebanese Armed Forces. Radwan could not have predicted that this visit would be his last.

According to Radwan’s neighbor Umm Fadi, the Lebanese Armed Forces dragged Radwan out of the tent and shot him twice in the head in front of his wife after forcing her to come out to watch his execution. Umm Fadi continued that Radhwan’s wife suffered a nervous breakdown as a result of the events.

The al-Majouql Regiment subsequently arrested Radwan’s two brothers Marwan Mohammed al-Issa, 31, and Safwan Mohammed al-Issa, 25. The two men were among the 400 detainees from al-Nour and al-Qariya camps.

The two brothers were killed while held in detention. According to a local source who refused to be named, there were clear signs of torture on Marwan and Safwan’s bodies which indicate that they died under torture while held by the Lebanese forces.

A representative of the Lebanese Military contacted Safwan’s wife on Monday informing her that the family must collect the bodies of the two brothers. The representative insisted that the family may only collect the bodies if they agree to limit the number of mourners present at the burial to 10 people to avoid creating “tension and raising emotions” during the burial.

The three brothers from the village of al-Nahariya in al-Qusayir’s countryside were the only remaining members of the Syrian al-Issa family in Lebanon. They are the victims of the Lebanese army in Arsal along with 18 other people who died during the Lebanese Army’s raid on al-Nour and al-Qariya camps.
