Airstrikes kill 18 people in Deir Ezzor: activists

(Zaman Al Wasl)- At least 18 people killed and dozens wounded in airstrikes pounded the eastern province of Deir Ezzor on Saturday, media activist told Zaman al-Wasl.

10 civilians were killed and 13 more were wounded in regime and Russia’s airstrikes on al-Salihiya town in the northern countryside, activist Rami al-Ahmed said.

Russia and regime warplanes carried out more than 30 raids on Saturday, he added.

In its turn, the U.S.-led coalition airstrikes have also killed 8 family members, mostly women and children, in al-Mayadeen city

The death toll from the Coalition strikes reach a total of 500 people in the last three months, according to local monitoring groups. Most victims were family members.
The US-led air campaign against the Islamic State jihadist group in Syria began on September 23, 2014.

Syria's conflict that left more than half million people killed evolved from a bloody crackdown on protests in 2011 into to a devastating war that has drawn in world powers, including Russia and a US-led international coalition.
