ISIS fears imminent defeat, calls for 'general mobilization'

(Zaman Al Wasl)- As losses mount, the Islamic State seeks to recruit all young men in Deir al-Zor and the southern Hasaka countryside to fight the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Russian-backed regime forces.

Member of Furat Post network Ahmad Ramdan confirmed ISIS announced the general and compulsory recruitment of youth between 20-30 years in the province of Deir al-Zour what ISIS calls it "mandate of good.”

He pointed out that ISIS will subject the recruited to compulsory military and Sharia training and it threatened whoever tries to escapte the recruitment a week after the issuance of the decision of 11 Zu al-Qida 1438 Hijri, that is, five days ago.

Al-Ramdan said that the organization exempted former members Free Syrian Army from recruitment on the grounds that they are not eligible for jihad. He pointed out that the notification of young people is continuing and the deadline ends on Friday.

Local sources said that large number of young people wanted for recruitment in the area of Shamiya on the right bank of the Euphrates started leaving three days ago to al-Jazira area by ferry (boats or helicopters manufactured locally that carry even cars), which reflected negatively on the displaced fleeing the battles and difficult living conditions since the cost for smuggling rose with the numbers.

ISIS attached the recruitment decree in mosques and identified next Thursday as the last day to join the recruitment camps, according to the same sources.

The decision to recruit comes after nearly four years of the rival Democratic Union Party (PYD) decision to recruit young people between 18-30 years to fight ISIS with the consent and support of the International Coalition which provide advice and trainers to the camps of PYD, the backbone of (SDF) militia.

About 100 sons of Asian and foreign immigrants whom ISIS call lions of Caliphate were killed by the bombing of International coalition on their camp in the town of al-Kashkiya in the countryside of Deir al-Zor.

ISIS has been fighting for more than two months US-backed (SDF) in the city of Raqqa, and recently lost its main strongholds in the city of Sukhna on the outskirts of Deir al-Zor to Russian backed regime forces.
