Syrian child raped and killed by Afghan refugee in Istanbul: activists

(Zaman Al Wasl)- An Afghan refugee admitted raping and killing a Syrian child living with his parents in Istanbul. The Afghan man was living in the same neighborhood as the Syrian family and the child body is still missing at this time.

Syrian activist Suhail Kar Mohammad, who lives in the neighborhood where the crime took place, said the child Raed al-Ashram, 8, went missing three days ago in Sultan Gazi area in Istanbul. His family informed the Turkish authorities for them to search for him.

Speaking to Zaman al-Wasl, Kar Mohammad said the Turkish authorities reviewed footage from security cameras distributed in the neighborhood. The footage showed Raed with an Afghani refugee known as Asad. Asad was called in for questioning during which he admitted kidnapping Raed, raping him and killing him. Asad said he threw Raed’s body in a dumpster close to the neighborhood.

Kar Mohammad confirmed that the Turkish authorities are still searching for Raed’s body although the killer admitted his crime on Friday evening. The Turkish authorities promised to find Raed’s body and return it to his family in the coming hours.
