Abdul Salam Mustafa, representative of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) in Europe, explained in his talk to Zaman al-Wasl that People Protection Units (YPG) is the main Kurdish party that fights the Islamic State (ISIS) in Syria, but he added that (PYD) has widely participated in the battle as well as many parties and groups from different backgrounds, like Arab, Syriacs, and Kurds.
Mustafa added that many battalions of the Free Syrian Army and other Kurdish groups have formed a united operation room named (Furat’s volcano) aiming to fight ISIS and the regime, as well as reaching to a common view with other military formation to keep the spirit of the revolution and face all forms of dictation and unfairness.
The PYD representative insisted that their main aim is to reunite all forces in order to fight the dictating regime and terrorist Jihadist groups. He explained that YPG is the military force that protecting West Kurdistan, and is ready to cooperate with any party or formation believes in Syria as a democratic secular country and protects the rights of Kurds by law and constitution.
In regard to the clashes with the Free Syrian Army, Mustafa explained that there has been no such an issue, as there is no one definite or single entity for the Free Syrian Army or even the Jihadi groups, and YPG sometimes have disagreement with some battalions of the Free Syrian Army and cooperates with others, the same is applied for the Jihadi groups.
The PYD representative in Europe denied the claims and accusation of suppressing Arabs in liberated areas ruled by Kurds in Syria. He wondered how can that happen if the Arabic component is an essential part of the ruling body as well as Kurds and Syriacs. He explained that the Arab’s component is represented by Shummar Tribe and its leader Hamid Dahham al-Hadi, and other tribes like ALjawala, they have formed “Sanadid Forces” to fight the Islamic State.
Mustafa mentioned Sheikh’s Hamidi’s reply to claims of invading the Arabic villages by YPG when he said that no house belong to Arabs had been forcefully opened, even in regard to displacing Arab people, dozens of video showed the warm welcoming of Arabs' villages to the united forces formed of YPG, Sanadid forces and Syriac Military Council after liberating them from the Islamic State. Mustafa confirmed that social convention has been agreed among all the components in Eastern region of Syria.
In regard to the relation with the Syrian national Coalition and the Kurdish component of it, Mustafa confirmed that the same principle is applied on their relation with the National Coalition, as they cooperate with any component supports the Kurds’ rights, and disagree with who denies rights of Kurds and other ethnics and nationalities and their of living in a democratic secular country. Mustafa explained that relations with the Kurdish component of the national Coalition is good in theory, as they had reached to agreements for mutual cooperation like Holier Agreement in Erbil that resulted in forming the Supreme Kurdish Body and Dahuk’s agreement that ended in establishing the political referendum. But he claimed that always the National Kurdish Council found a way to escape abiding by the agreement.
PYD’s representative in Europe expressed his surprise for the continuous claims of the National Kurdish Council of its ability to deprive or grant the Democratic Union Party (PYD) the international legitimacy.
“how can that happen while our representative like Asia Abdullah, the PYD leader had met the French President in Elysee Palace and Nisrin Abdullah the leader in Women Protection Units (YPJ), even few days ago, we met the Deputy of the Head of European Parliament, despite that responsibles of the Kurdish national Council insisted that they are able to give us the international legitimacy.
Despite they do not have any office to represent them in Europe, and no one hears of their achievements, moreover, they are accused of stealing $.80 thousand Ahmad jarba gave to them to establish an office in Istanbul.”
In the end, Mustafa confirmed that even if dividing project took place, their project would stay on the principle of sorting out the Kurdish issue within Syria.
