Fatah Army fighters thwart Assad Army attacks near Ariha, press advances

Idlib's Islamist rebels on Wednesday have thwarted the attacks of Syrian regime forces to take back al-Fanar and al-Jameyyat checkpoints, rebel sources say as fierce clashes still underway east of Ariha town and near al-Mastouma camp.

Fatah Army in Idlib on Tuesday took control of a strategic al-Fannar military post near Ariha after a huge explosion caused by detonating a 700-meter-long tunnel that rebels were digging for 11 months.

The alliance of Islamist groups, including the Nusra Front, has pressed more advances in Arbaeen Mount, the last stronghold of Bashar al-Assad's forces in Idlib province.

In another battle front, Fatah Amy took control of Museibeen town near al-Mastouma camp, activists said.

Abdul Rahman Abu Islam, Fatah Army fighter, told Zaman al-Wasl that rebels want to cut a supply route links Ariha with al-Mastouma camp.

Fatah Army fights to seize Tal Najd and Nahliya villages to cut all military supply to al-Mastouma camp.

Army of Fatah, a reference to the conquests that spread Islam across the Middle East from the seventh century, has seized swathes of territory northern Syrian since late of March 2015 including Idlib city and Jisr al-Shughour town.

Syria's four-year-old war has killed more than 220,000 people and forced millions out of their homes.
