Syrian Islamist rebels on Sunday have seized control of strategic towns of al-Mastouma and al-Muqbela in Idlib province, pressing hard to capture a nearby military camp, activists said.
The alliance of Islamist groups including the Nusra Front want to cut a supply route links Ariha town with al-Mastouma camp, according to rebel sources.
Hadi Alabdallah, prominent media activist, said fighters of Fatah Army has captured 12 checkpoints after a huge car bomb targeted al-Mastouma camp where Bashar al-Assad troops hide in their last stronghold north of Idlib.
Army of Fatah, a reference to the conquests that spread Islam across the Middle East from the seventh century, has seized swathes of territory northern Syrian since late of March 2015 including Idlib city and Jisr al-Shughour town.
Syria's four-year-old war has killed more than 220,000 people and forced millions out of their homes.
