(Zaman Al Wasl)- “This is the forth square of Tadmor prison, the first door on right is the entrance to room where we used to wash our clothes, the next door is its exit, the door on the other wall most likely the one leads to dormitory 11 and the wall in the middle of the picture is the one between the prison square and beyond”, in these words, Tareq Jansiz, a former prisoner commented on a photo was surfaced on the internet for square of the Tadmor prison in ISIS-captured city of Palmyra, where he was detained for 9 months.
The irony is that Jansiz had seen the photo in the anniversary of his release from the prison.
The former prisoner went back in his painful memories and continued describing cruel circumstances he and other prisoners went through: “prisoners who had had scabies or infections were treated in this room, where they were put naked and treated with white painful solution caused them burns sometimes, while the square behind the middle wall was the one where prisoners used to go for some fresh air.”
Jansiz mentioned that he saw awful incidences and many died in front of him. “days and memories I’ve never mentioned before, has come back to my mind, in this corridor, I was with a young man from Almidan who kept hitting his head on the wall till his blood covered the place” he emotionally said.
The former prisoner mentioned that he would never forget the shouts of prisoners who were burned with boiled water, “if those stones can talk, they would tell stories about Syrian youth who had their dreams buried in this prison in the middle of desert”
In the end, Jansiz requested all Tadmor’s prisoners and others not to forgive or reconcile.
“My heart has become tough and full of hate since I left the prison”
in the end he mentioned that words were not enough to describe what he saw, and who was lucky to leave the prison alive should be considered to have come back to life after death.
