A well-informed source said no one of the commanders of the Southern Front and Nusra Front have been killed in the regime airstrike on their meeting in Garz town in the southern province of Daraa on Saturday.
The meeting of Southern Front and Syria's al-Qaeda wing, the Nusra Front, was to find more common ground and to unite ranks in order to take full control of the strategic city of Daraa, the source said.
Meanwhile, at least 10 people, including 4 children and 5 women, have been killed on Saturday in regime airstrikes on Nasib, the border village with Jordan, the Syrian Network for Human Rights reported.
On Thursday, Syrians rebels launched an ew offensive called it the 'South Storm' to eliminate the presence of Syrian regime forces and allied militias in Daraa.
Rebels in Syrian south have inflicted significant defeats on Bashar al-Assad in the last three months, notably by capturing the Nasib border crossing with Jordan on April 1.
Southern region, including Daraa, is of strategic importance due to its proximity to Damascus and neighboring states Israel and Jordan. It is also the last significant foothold of mainstream rebels, who have mostly been crushed elsewhere in Syria by government forces or jihadist groups, according to AP.
More than 230,000 people have been killed in Syria since the conflict began in March 2011 with anti-government demonstrations that were met with a regime crackdown.
