Newborn in embattled Latakia endorses values of coexistence

Rebels looking after a mother and her newborn baby in liberated  Alawite part of Lattakia countryside

A mature video footage showed two women from the Alawite part of Lattakia countryside, in Salma village, that fell under the rebels control. One of those women gave birth through Caesarian section, accompanied with her friend.

In an  emotional talk, the new mother’s friend expressed her satisfaction and happiness with the treatment they have been receiving from the rebels as they have been for 9 days under their supervision, and she expressed they would not have had better treatment.

The doctor who had been looking after the mother and her new born baby after the operation, confirmed that rebels only target the regime forces, not civilians, and that case of looking after the mother and her baby is best example to refutes allegations which accuse rebels of assaulting civilians and innocent people.

The regime tried to give the battle of liberating the Syrian coast and Lattakia countryside a religious and sectarian orientation, but activists were alerted and they kept broadcasting and distributing video footages showing ethics of rebels and how far they are from sectarian and religious drive in dealing with civilians from other religions, besides their ethics and good manner in treating the elderly and children.

Selma village is one of the most affected areas in Lattakia countryside due to heavy shelling it has been under because it joined the revolution early and has been a good shelter for rebels.

The real death toll in the Syrian war could be more than 200,000 people, a pro-opposition watchdog group said Saturday, as it provided a latest count that matched that of the UN. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said it had documented the deaths of more than 106,000 people, but warned that the real toll could be twice as high. The United Nations said in July that more than 100,000 have been killed in Syria since March 2011.
