(Zaman Al Wasl)- Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, has revived the bitterness of brutal massacres committed by Syrian regime and allied militias as people heading cemeteries to pay tribute to the victims of the 4-year-old war.
Zaman al-Wasl's photos that were taken in the first day of Eid al-Fitr in the Houla region northwest of Homs city, showed families of Houla massacre's victims paying tribute in the town cemetery for 108 people, including 34 women and 49 children, who were killed by pro-Bashar al-Assad Shabiha on May 25, 2012 in the town of Taldou.
Al-Houla is an area mainly comprising three towns named, Tal Addahab, Kafr Laha and Taldou.
Houla was a regular protest hub, even before army defectors formed the Free Syrian Army. The Syrian army had been accused of raiding and killing protesters in the Houla region before. But by May, 2012 FSA or allied rebels were in general control of the area.
More than 230,000 people killed and over 12 million forced to flee their homes since the Syrian revolution erupted in March 2011.
