Islamic State on Thursday stormed main gas plant in Homs province by grad missiles, leaving huge damage in the main gas supply of regime-controlled city, well-informed source told Zaman al-Wasl.
Ebla gas plant, 45 km (30 miles) east Homs, feeds power plants of the city by 2 million cubic meters of gas per day, while the maximum capacity is up to 4 million cubic meters per day.
The ultra hardline Sunni group that seized most of Syria's desert including the ancient city of Palmyra two months ago, is tightening the siege on Homs through the eastern gate. Moreover it controls the gas and oil fields.
More than 230,000 people killed and over 12 million forced to flee their homes since the Syrian revolution erupted in March 2011.
