Old documents reveal lack of ammunition in regime depots

(Translation by Yusra Ahmed)

A leaked document issued in 2012 by Syrian Interior Ministry revealed that ammunition depots were almost empty, as well the documents reflected the shortage that defense ministry has been facing.

An official letter sent from Major General Hamid Asaad Mirie on December 8 2012 , the manager of administration in the Ministry of Defence, to the Minister of Interior personally replying to the Minister’s request of arms like Doshka cannon, PKS, machine guns and RBG, but the ministry of Defence showed inability to provide the arms because of unavailability and shortage of arms.

The letter and other leaked document are considered a warning sign for shortage of arms in the Ministry of Defence, the main source of the country arms.

Zaman al-Wasl had published before documents showed that stores of the Ministry of interior were almost empty toward the end of 2012 and all available arms were less than 320 piece and that was the reason for the Ministry's rejection to provide arms to the police forces in other cities, not what was thought of keeping arms for future battles.
