Activists in Deir Ezzor in Northern of Syria had started a campaign to show violations of the National Coalition for Revolutionary Forces and Opposition in the city, demanding its representative to resign for letting down the city and its rebels beside inability to manage its people’s affairs and needs.
The statement which Zaman al-Wasl obtained said that Deir Ezzor had been under severe siege forced by the Syrian regime and the Islamic State (ISIS) and the city and all families had been for 4 years facing of the outcomes of the Syrian revolution, as hardly can see a family without a martyr, a prisoner, a displaced or an injured.
“The neglect the city was subject to by many political figures representing the Syrian revolution especially Riyadh al-Hasan, the representative of Local councils in Deir Ezzor since 2012 has exacerbated the suffering of people, as he tended to support some battalions and bodies to obtain loyalties without consulting the revolutionary forces in the city at the time, beside supporting many subsidiary local councils without referring to the city’s local council” the statement detailed.
Moreover, the statement accused Riyadh al-Hasan of supporting many military brigades had joined ISIS and participated in the siege against the city caused suffering of its people and displaced them.
The statement demanded all the revolutionary and opposition bodies to their media representatives to sack Riyadh al-Hasan from any position and to strip him from any prestigious value for many reason especially his negligence to Deir Ezzor that suffered of ISIS and the Syrian regime.
According to the statement, Riyadh al-Hasan has reached to the National Coalition out of blue without public unanimity which increased the disagreement and conflicts among the revolutionary forces in the city because of preferring some forces over others.
The 140 activists signed the statement who mentioned that al-Hasan had not provided any help to the city and did not even issue any statement condemning the practices of the Syria regime and ISIS or requesting the international community to interfere to save the 350 Thousand people under siege.
On Monday, the National Coalition reelected Khaled Khoja for a second term as its president, the body said in a statement, according to Reuters.
The Coalition, accused of slipping into virtual irrelevance on the battlefield as Islamist and Kurdish groups have grown stronger, is working on establishing a new military command structure to head up rebel fighting groups.
On Saturday, it said it had decided to allow itself an additional two months to form the structure.
In a general assembly meeting near Istanbul which finished Sunday, the Coalition also elected a political body of 19 members and three vice presidents.
The Coalition has enjoyed support from Saudi Arabia, Qatar and others allies of the Syrian uprising but has become less prominent since political efforts to end the four-year conflict have appeared to go nowhere.
