ISIS on Friday has recaptured ground from rebels it has lost this week near the Turkish border in the northern countryside of Aleppo, activists said.
The moderate Islamist groups had seized al-Kherba village and neighboring farms from ISIS on Thursday, but it took few hours to be recaptured by ISIS early Friday.
Abu Omar, rebel commander told Zaman al-Wasl that the main target of the ongoing clashes with the Islamic State is to halt its advances in the northern countryside of Aleppo.
The commander says there is a public consensus in northern villages of Aleppo that IS should be wiped off from their land amid a state of convenience for the planned 'safe zone'.
ISIS has faced slow setbacks in the last few weeks in the northeast of the war-torn country as the U.S.-led coalition deeply inflicts huge losses in ISIS ranks.
Activists said Islamic State's advance may hinder Turkish planned 'safe Zone', a 98km-long, 45km-wide area to be patrolled by members of the Free Syrian Army.
