A child girl with European features appeared in a video was taken in embattled Eastern Ghouta suburbs near Damascus has attracted German embassy in Beirut, mistakenly thinks she is German.
“Save Berlin”, Dr. Majed Abo Ali used to comment on the German Embassy's inquiry about a child-girl with blonde hair and European complexion seen on a video published by the United Medical Office in Eastern Ghouta.
Dr. Abo Ali wrote on his Facebook page that a letter was sent from the German Embassy in Beirut to the United Medical office in Eastern Ghouta requesting to contact them by phone. The doctor mentioned that he had sent them his phone number, on which he received a call from a person politely and officially asked him about a video was published by the office about the hunger and malnutrition among children, the doctor initiated talking about the difficult circumstances of Ghouta and its needs for medical and nutrients, however he was surprised to be asked about the name of the girl and where she lived.
After the call, he received the link for the mentioned video to ease his job to find her, the doctor started looking for the girl, and found that she was in Marij Hospital.
Dr. Anas from the hospital had wished the incident would have a good opportunity to get some support for children with malnutrition, if not, hopefully that girl could have more interest.
Dr. Abo Ali carried on: “after knowing the information about the girl, I contacted the Embassy and told them that they can send her donation, however, I discovered that they thought the girl was German from her complexion and blonde hair, and thought her unclear words she said because of fever were German words”.
The doctor felt sad and embarrassed for the disappointment his colleague, Dr. Anas from Marij hospital might feel because the German Embassy was interested in that girl in particular thinking that she was one of the German citizens, ignoring all the suffering of Syrian children.
