Ahmed
Jabra who’s known as “Abo Saffok”, the Head of the National Coalition met a
group of journalists and activists mainly from inside Syria as the meeting was
held in Istanbul.
The head
of the coalition insisted that such meetings would take place in future. He
listened to the most important problems that liberated areas of Syria have been
experiencing through the media, the co-ordinations bodies representatives and
members of local councils who came to Istanbul at the coalition expenses.
An
activists spoke about the suffering of people and activist in Aleppo because of
radical Islamists who recently arrested and tortured a number of young people
because they raised the revolution flag instead of the black flag during a
demonstration. The activist commented saying that librated areas became
occupied by radicals. He also suggested that coalition take a step toward
economic projects in Aleppo, such as conducting city buses, and run generators
to produce electricity for residential areas, also called for increased support
for the local council as he became aware of the its need for financial support
when he met the head of the council.
In
response to a question about the current attitude of the coalition toward
Geneva2, Jarba said: “We are no longer
talking about Geneva2, we have today reached to another stage, as we want to
find a suitable punishment for Bashar crimes” and added that they consider what
happened in Al-Ghouta quite similar to the crime of September the 11th.
Jarba said
that he received many calls from foreign ministers after al-Ghouta massacre,
and he told them that Syrian revolution would come to its end if the world did
not give Bashar the suitable punishment. He insisted that Coalition have done
its political duty toward al-Ghouta at best and they donated a million dollars
to people in al-Ghouta despite the shortage of fund.
In eply to
a question and blame for lack of support to fighters and rebels in Coast
battle, he said that there is envious relationship between some fighting group,
and despite the battle started before being fully equipped and ready, support
was delivered to fighters there as much as possible.
On the
other hand, and in regard to Homs front, Jarba said that Homs is under strict
siege and many attempts to deliver weapon and support inside went in vane, and
the coalition participated in almost 2 million US dollars for Homs and they
make sure it arrived.
Commenting
on the resignation of Maaz Khatib, and in response to a question if the
Coalition Head would do the same if the coalition did not received the support
needed as a respond to Al-Ghouta massacre, he replied saying: “I am the first
line political representative of Syrian revolution, and if Bashar al-Assad is a
criminal and the world in not keen to support the Syrians, this does not mean
giving up leave the revolution alone” and finished saying “Maaz Khatib resigned
and returned as a Head of the coalition several times and his act did not
achieve any good”
New
interim government
The hard life for most Syrian people inside
the country was the most important complaints made by activists, but Jarba
explained that Coalition at the moment is only political body, but soon in would
have executive arm and an Interim Government
would be announced in the next General Authority meeting. He confirmed
that aid and relief support would be distributed in more transparent manner,
beside finding a way to organize civil police to control Aleppo as well as
finding new Syrian satellite channels and support media.
Fayez Sarah ended the meeting saying that they are seeking to
activate a communication network between the coalition and Syrian media people
to develop a joint plan for better media. And he wished to have support from
Syrians media figures and other skilled people who work in media and promised
to meet soon.
