Russia airstrikes hit aid vehicles in Idlib near Turkish border

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Russia on Thursday has renewed air strikes on aid vehicles near the Turkish border, targeting a convoy in Sarmada town in northern province of Idlib, activists said.

There were no immediate reports of casualties.

On Wednesday, Russia's warplanes carried out two air strikes on an aid warehouse in Azaz town near Bab al Salameh border crossing with Turkey,  leaving 3 people dead, according to Zaman Al Wasl reporter.

Activists say attacking the aid points and vehicle parks in Idlib and Aleppo is a Russian reprisal over shooting down its warplane on Tuesday.

Russia has intervened directly in the Syrian war on Sept. 30 with its own air campaign in support of Bashar al-Assad, whose forces are fighting insurgents backed by regional powers including Turkey.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said this week that Russia's airstrikes have killed 403 civilians, including 97 children under the age of 18.
