Russia airstrikes kill 25 civilians in northern town near Turkey

(Zaman Al Wasl)- At least 25 civilians have been killed on Wednesday in Russian air strikes on rebel-held town northern Aleppo as Moscow steps up air strikes on areas close to the Turkish border in its unstoppable-retaliation to the downed jet, local monitoring group said.

The air strikes on the town of kafr Naseh in the northern countryside have left 25 people killed and dozens wounded, Local Coordination Committees said.

Russia's air strikes have also helped ISIS to make gains in Aleppo.

Fighters of the radical group took control of the towns of Kafra and Sundaft in the northern countryside after a surprise attack on rebel bastions late on Tuesday, local reporter said.

The new territory captured by ISIS is situated in the Turkish-planned buffer zone.

Abu Muntasir, rebel commander, told Zaman Al Wasl that rebels of the northern countryside of Aleppo have been exhausted after months of fighting ISIS.

In its turn, al Qaeda's Syria wing, the Nusra Front, said on Wednesday that 50 Syrian regime troops and allied Shiite militia had been killed in the last seven days in the southern countryside of Aleppo.

The underway battles on the frontline of al-Qarasi town south of Aleppo have left 50 regime troopers dead, according to Nusra's Twitter accounts.

In relevant development, late on Wednesday, UK lawmakers vote 397-223 to launch airstrikes against ISIS in Syria, AP reported.

British jets will begin operations against Islamic State in Syria overnight, according to Sky News.

Since 2011, four million Syrians have fled abroad. Millions more have been internally displaced, while at least 250,000 have been killed.
