(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian rebels have taken Hamzat village in the northern Aleppo province from Isis, activists said on Friday.
Al-Shamiyeh Front, key rebel group operating in Aleppo province, with other rebel factions have captured the village after fierce fighting with Isis militants.
Late on Thursday, an-Isis truck bomb shocked rebel checkpoint in Jazer village east of the border town of Azaz, residents told Zaman al Wasl.
Major. Ahmed Khairallah, senior commander in al-Shamiyeh Front and former army officer, was among the casualties.
Last Saturday, 7 Shamiyeh Front fighters had been killed in Tal Refaat town north of Aleppo due to an-Isis truck bomb.
The ultra-hardline Islamic State has frequently targeted moderate rebels groups and Western-backed ones, claiming that waging war on the 'awakening' groups (Sahawat) is more important than fighting the (Bashar) Assad regime.
Activists have accused Russia of collaborating Isis in its fight against rebels by intensifying air strikes on its rival groups.
Since it began in 2011, Syria's conflict has fractured into a complex array of fronts between Kurds, rebels, regime and jihadists, and has killed more than 250,000 people.
