ALEPPO (Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian regime troops backed by Russian jets have recaptured vast territory from rebels in the northern countryside of Aleppo after heavy clashes started Friday, local reporter said.
The regime army took control of the surrounding suburbs of Bashkoy town, and number of checkpoints near Handarat town. The fresh gain came as Russia has stepped up its deadly air strikes on Aleppo rebel-held areas.
Early Friday, Russian air strikes on Azaz town near the Turkish border have killed 12 civilians in strikes on the two main hospitals.
Two children and one woman were among the casualties.
Medics said the hospitals will be partially out of service due to the heavy aerial bombing that turned some buildings to rubble.
3 more civilians were killed in al-Zebdiyeh neighborhood of Aleppo due to the Russian air strikes, the Syrian Network for Human Rights reported.
Amnesty International said on Wednesday that Russia's bombing of Syria that began on Sep.30 may amount to a war crime because of the number of civilians its strikes have killed.
