(Zaman Al Wasl)- Russia warplanes killed 14 civilians in air strikes on al-Saliheen neighborhood in northern Aleppo city as regime forces make gains in their most significant advance since Russia intervened in September in support of Bashar al-Assad.
The devastating Russian air strikes have reached momentum in this week with more than 800 raids on rebel-held areas across Aleppo province, local reporter said.
Field commander told Zaman al Wasl that rebels were informed over the attack a week before its start by a key ally country and how Russia pledged to provide an ultimate aerial backup with initial 1500 air strikes to capture Aleppo.
Rebels' local council in Aleppo has formed a crisis room to provide and preserve the essential needs of food and fuel in affordable price.
Rebels have also formed a unified military council, calling for general mobilization to deter the attacks as concerns mount amid lack of weapons and supplies.
Aleppo, just 50 km (30 miles) south of the Turkish border, is currently divided into areas of government and opposition control. Many of the rebels fighting in and around Aleppo have close ties to Turkey.
Meanwhile, Tens of thousands of people, including many women and children, have been uprooted due to the vicious offensive.
Turkey said on Sunday it would not abandon thousands of Syrians stranded on its border after fleeing a major Russian-backed regime offensive, as aid agencies warned of a "desperate" situation.
