(Zaman Al Wasl)- Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces backed by U.S. air strikes have pressed more advances against the Islamic State group in northeastern Hasaka province, activists said on Tuesday.
The YPG-led alliance has encircled ISIS fighters in Markada town, the last remaining ISIS stronghold in Hasaka.
Hasaka-based activist, Osama Mulla Mohamed, said Markada's fall is an imminent as SDF make rapid advance.
The U.S.-led coalition strikes hit ISIS supply route links between Hasaka and Raqqa province, preventing any reinforcement to reach Marakada, the activist added.
This week, SDF fighters have regained control of large parts of the main road links between Aleppo and Hasaka from ISIS.
Abd al-Ali, Hasaka-based activist, said SDF seeks to control al-Kuntari and al-Alya towns, a move enable the YPG-led group to have an ISIS-free zone between Euphrates river and Habur river northeastern Syria. SDF also seized Jabal Abdul Aziz district and the the northeastern countryside of Raqqa, the groups de faco capital.
