Khaled Saleh, National Coalition spokesman, announced from Washington that USA has begun to send lethal weapon to the Free Syrian Army after ceasing the military strike, that announcement caused major embarrassment to FSA military council.
Activists and experts considered
Saleh’s declaration irresponsible as he is not in a position to talk in
military issues in general; moreover, arming the FSA is considered top secret
and extremely sensitive issue.
No one knows what his aim was from
that announcement, although it is expected to cause that great controversy, which forced Monther
Majos, the National Coalition Ambassador in Paris, to deny any delivery of
weapon to FSA in Syria.
The biggest problem that announcement
caused was to the FSA military council as it raised mistrust between the
council and battalions on field from one side, and between battalions
themselves from the other side, as everyone
think that the others have
received weapon.
The free Syrian Army denied receiving
any lethal weapon, and stated that all they received were means of communication
and humanitarian aid.
Salim Idris the leader of FSA from his
side, said that they have been waiting to receive weapon from the USA, and
expressed the need for anti- tanks and anti-aircraft missiles.
On the other hand, USA declared that
it would be difficult to send anti-aircraft missiles, but Idris explained that
they promised to respond after further consultations in Washington.
Among all those declarations, the Syrian
people and the FSA are still waiting the international community to fulfill its
promises to them after more than 30
months the Revolution and war.
