(Eqtsad)- Al-Qaeda's Syria branch, the Nusra Front, stormed on Tuesday al-Khuyan village in Idlib countryside using tanks, a well-informed source said.
They stormed the main money exchange market in the town to confiscate up to a million dollars that belonged to a currency trader living in regime-held areas.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that the currency trader comes from Hama city.
The village of al-Khuyan on the border between Idlib and Hama is counted as part of Idlib’s liberated countryside. The market for exchanging products, fuels, cigarettes, as well as gold and dollars between areas under the regime’s control in Hama and liberated areas in Idlib was activated.
In this village, the currency traders are active and deal with their peers present in regime controlled areas. Al-Nusra confiscated over 900 thousand Dollars for persons dealing with the trader as well as a car in their possession.
A fight broke out between the currency traders and al-Nusra fighters leading to ten dead from the currency traders. Eqtsad listened to voice recordings that included conversations between the money traders about the incident but the source requested the information not be published.
In the wake of the fighting, armed men subordinate to a former parliamentary member tried to storm al-Khuyan village but the attempt failed. Al-Khuyan is under the control of multiple opposition factions.
The networks to transfer merchandise and currency dealers between regime held areas and liberated areas have been activated, but the phenomena is not spoken of. Traders on both sides benefit as well as the different opposition factions, pro-regime thugs, and intelligence and military leaders subordinate to the regime.
