(Zaman Al Wasl)- A military source said Syrian Mig-21 was downed on Sunday due to technical failure and lack of experience of the pilot who was killed in the crash.

Pilot Major Ayham Khadra from Kalamakhou in Qardaha city, home town of Bashar al-Assad failed to take off before pilot could take an emergency measure.

He said the lack of experience of the pilot led him to kill himself while trying to reach the landing strip because Mig-21 cannot land with a failing engine confirming the pilot and technical instruction require the pilot throws himself from the plane in case engine failed.

Mig-21 cannot land without an engine even on the airport landing strip.

The warplane carried ammunition fell in pro-regime areas because the pilot tried to decrease the plane’s weight by dropping its load in an attempt to fly a bigger height to reach the landing strip, according to the source.

The dropped Mig-21 was loaded with two bombs of 250 gauge to bomb targets in south Aleppo in support of Iranian militias forces, the source added.

The regime pilot attributed the reasons of the warplane’s crash to the expiry date of the fighter clarifying that the engine is outdated and not fit for use anymore.

The second reason is the lack of experience of the pilot although he is ranked major. His training must have been very weak in the past period because most of prepared fighters were allocated to old pilots who mostly fell during bombing rebelling Syrian villages and cities. Hence, the regime depends on inexperienced pilots such as Ayham Khadra who did not throw himself and made an attempt to land which is practically impossible.

The source revealed that Hama airport leadership was ordered by Air Force Intelligence and under knowledge of Air Force leader extends the age of expired engines regardless of technical conditions despite knowing these expired engines should not be installed on warplanes especially with one engine warplanes like Mig-21.

The Air Force leadership realizes that most of its warplanes are not even fit for training, but they hide this information from pilots and make them believe their Russian friends have provided them with new engines. This in not correct because most regime warplanes are collected in Russia, the source added.

He accused the leadership of being careless with the life of the pilots even if they are Alwaites and pushes them to die in a lost battle be it by peoples’ bullets or by an explosion in the warplanes engines.
