(Eqtsad)- “Lighters’ service” a new vocation has been inspired in the besieged town of Moadamiyat al-Sham, which has a good financial return.
Adnan, 22, a young man from Moadamiyat al-Sham, has found a new vocation inspired from the severe siege imposed over the town, he started working in “lighters’ service.”
“with the siege conditions, there is nothing available, everything disappeared, including lighters, as people used to borrow a lighter from house to house, and one lighter visited houses of all the neighbourhood”, Adnan explained the beginning of his inspiration.
But the spark for his interest in lighters started when he saw a small gas cooker at his brother’s house, he thought of using the gas inside it to fill a lighter, which was successful, then he sit in street to fill empty lighters for passerby.
“First day I have only one customer, and in the second day three customers, however after 10 days, people queued around me to fill their lighters”, proudly detailed.
Now, whenever Adnan passes, people run to him to fill their lighters.
Adnan has not limited his job to filling empty lighters, he learned how to fix broken lighters, or even create new lighters from unused materials.
The prices according to Adnan vary by service provided, for example filling a lighter cost SYP 300, mending lighters range between 100 and 200, while a new lighter costs SYP500.
“This job has good income as I gain around SYP 500 a day”, Adnan ended.
