(Zaman al-Wasl)- Syrian regime forces banned many tens of displaced families who fled northeastern Syria to enter Damascus suburbs without obvious reasons, leaving them in a desert area in the eastern countryside of Damascus.
The families mostly from Deir ez-Zor come from ISIS-controlled areas as regime forces with Syrian Democratic Forces approach ISIS areas amid intensive Russian and International alliance air raids on Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa and ISIS areas in Hasaka.
Activist Basheer al-Abaad said the families coming from eastern region were stuck at a regime forces’ checkpoint in al-Batmi area 70 Km away from Dumeir city on Deir ez-Zor- Damascus road.
He added that at least 300 persons from Deir ez-Zor are waiting since a week near the checkpoint in addition to others banned by regime to enter Damascus under pretext they did not have permission to let them pass amid high temperature and lack of food and water.
The families are still without a place to stay and some car owners and sellers of food stuff come to the area to sell families good whereas a group of the families drove a back in a mini-bus to Deir ez-Zor countryside, al-Abaad indicated.
The road to Damascus cost the families a lot of money and that what pushed one woman to go back to Deir ez-Zor with her children. She waited for permission to pass for a week and spent 80000 SP for nothing, al-Abaad explained, the situation is similar to when Iraqi authorities banned al-Anbar displaced families from entering Baghdad, but now, we have regime forces banning Deir ez-Zor locals from entering Damascus.
ISIS controls most of Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa provinces since 2014 in addition to Markada south of Hasaka.
Residents of Markada who live under hard conditions after the United States and its allies started tightening on ISIS in Euphrates region in conjunction with regime forces backed by Russia trying to advance towards Raqqa.
