Dr. Anas al-Akhras
passed away, activists from the embattled city of
Homs said. So, no need now for an immediate transfer for the prominent Human rights
activist outside Homs to receive treatment after suffering from a serious
disease, they added.
The well-known Endocrinologist died after long suffering with intestinal disease; weeks ago Zaman Alwasl published an appeal for Human Rights
organizations to help him getting
out of Homs to have the proper treatment he needs, as he used to treat people
and helping them for more than a year and a half under siege.
Al-Khras disease was discovered five months
ago, where he suffered from general condition deterioration, decreased appetite
and severe weight loss.
It worth mentioning, Homs has been under siege for more
that 20 months as well as daily bombing and rocket shelling.
The real death toll in the
Syrian war could be more than 200,000 people, a pro-opposition watchdog group
said Saturday, as it provided a latest count that matched that of the UN. The
Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said it had documented the deaths of more
than 110,000 people, but warned that the real toll could be twice as high.
