(Eqtsad)- Once again, bread crisis returned to the Northern countryside of Homs, especially Rastan city that has the highest gathering of civilians in Homs countryside. The special point in the bread crisis this time that it coincided with wheat harvest and the price of flour reached to it its lowest level, according to Mohammed Ayob, director of external communication office of the local council.
The local council had appealed to aid and relief institutions and societies work in the city to support bread which is the essential part of people food amid tragic economic situation.

Shamir said in his talk to Eqtsad: “It is impossible to provide bread without external support as no internal fund is available to rely on”.
Taking in account the high intensity in the city of Rastan with 13200 local families and 2800 displaced families, the cost of one load of bread costs $16000, making affording money for one load of bread impossible, according to Shamir.
After 8 days without bread in the city, the aid and relief office borrowed money from the Red Crescent in the city to make on load of bread as emergency, in order to avoid anger among people like what happened in the end of last year when bread disappeared for 22 days, caused a state of anger among people who demonstrated asking the council to resign, besides destroying some associations and stealing their contents.
The economic situation in the city is too bad as the majority of people are jobless and the average income ranges around $50 a month.
Abo Ismael from the city of Rastan told Eqtsad: “I need one bag of bread every day to feed my kids that cost SYR 250, while I do not earn more than SYR 200.
In an unprecedented step, the local council tries to provide bread to poor people only and at the production cost only for people of slightly good income.
Yarub al-Dali, head of the media office of th council said in his talk to Eqtsad: “we are working on providing bread ar the cost of production for people of slightly acceptable income and employees who have low income does not match the cost of living, besides who have sorted their situation at the village of al-Dar al-Kabira, therefore, the cost of one load of bread would be reduced and can be affordable.
Rastan city need 27000 bags of bread daily, distributed over 105 centres to be given to amost 80 thousand people.
