(Zaman Al Wasl)-Two Syrian children refugees in Lebanon were refused admission in a hospital to treat their third degree burns because their family was not able to afford money.
Bashir Wazir, 18 months old, and his brother Yusuf 4 years old, were burned by a boiling milk their mother was preparing for breakfast.
“Bashir woke up in the morning hungry, I started boiling the milk I bought from the milk man, however he crawled to the saucepan and dropped it over himself and the hot milk reached to his brother Yusuf as well an their sister”, the mother, from Jobar in Homs countryside told Zaman Al Wasl.
The father took his burnt children to a nearby clinic for primary treatment, but he was advise that the burns for Bashir and Yusuf were third degree and affected 70% of their body, which need hospital to treat them and give them fluid, while the girl’s burns were minor and did not need any treatment.
The father who works as a temporary labour in Tripoli took his two children to Dar al-Salam hospital, he was demanded to pay $2000 to admit the boys, he contacted the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Lebanon and all people he knew to borrow money, but he was not able to provide the money, subsequently the hospital refuse admitting the two kids and dismissed the father claiming that the hospital was full.
After that, the father took his children a hospital call Ali al-Abdulla that requested $400 for admission only.
Now the two kids are being treated in the hospital, but the father does not know how long their stay will last, and most importantly, how much the cost would be, but he is sure that it would shockingly expensive.
