(Zaman Al Wasl)- It appears that neither side is able to hold onto Kensabba and secure their control over it, as the Syrian resistance has withdrawn from it on Sunday under continuous artillery, missile, and air shelling for three days.
The Syrian resistance also withdrew from the village of Shalif and its castle for the same reason, whereas it appears the regime forces entered those sites, Kensabba remains vacant of both forces, and its western entrance witnesses heavy fighting to prevent regime forces from entering.
For the third day in a row, the regime forces and sectarian militias continue to launch attacks on this axis in Jabal al-Akrad which have cost them tens of dead and injured according to activists.
Success was not written for the regime attack on Tel al-Zawakat close to the village of al-Kabanet which was launched in tandem with the attack on Kensabba and Shalif as the Syrian resistance withstood the attack and the regime forces suffered human and material losses.
Tarik Haj Bakri, a military analyst, sees that the regime is trying to take advantage of the exit of a number of brigades to participate in the battle in Aleppo and achieve a victory (even if it is a small one) on the coastal front and instrumentalizing it in the media to cover up the bloody losses in Aleppo.
During the time this article was being prepared, the Syrian resistance in Lataki’s countryside started a counter attack against the regime forces to evict them from areas they control, and preliminary news indicates that violent fighting is under way in Shalif castle amidst heavy shelling of regime positions and its supply routes to the fighting axis.
Mohammed Naji, the correspondent for Latakia Media Network, indicated that tens of Grad missiles were launched by the Syrian resistance on the evening of Sunday August 7 on Talet Ghazale one of the most important regime fortifications in Jabal al-Akrad, other hills, and close observation posts.
The Syrian resistance brigades liberated the area of Kensabba and other locations with the launch of Yarmouk battle at the end of June 2016, during this time the areas has come under the control of both sides.
