(Zaman Al Wasl- AFP)-A suspected ISIS suicide bomber detonated an explosive vest on a bus near the Atmeh border crossing into Turkey late on Sunday, killing at least 23 people, including rebel fighters, and injuring 50 others, some critically, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and sources said.
The bus was carrying fighters for Nour al-Din al-Zink movement, Failaq al-Sham and al-Sultan Ibrahim brigade, source told Zaman al-Wasl.
Rebel commanders accused the Islamic State of carrying out the suicide attack. So far, the radical group has not claimed the responsibility for the attack.
Pictures circulating on social media, which Reuters could not immediately verify, showed the burnt out remains of a bus and medics treating injured people.
Turkey's CNN Turk television reported that the explosion took place at the entrance of Atmeh refugee camp in Syria, near the border crossing, citing local sources.
Syria's Idlib province, where Atmeh is located, is a major bastion of the Turkey-backed opposition to Bashar al-Assad's rule.
