Syrian opposition started printing a revised Syrian curriculum in Istanbul, where all information related to the Assad regime has been omitted. The revised books will be distributed to displaced Syrian students in Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and Qatar as well as students in liberated areas in Syria.
Zaman Alwasl visited the two printing houses in
the industrial area in Istanbul, where printing of the revised books taking
place.
Na’eem al-Mofti , Secretary -General of the
Syrian Commission for Education “the science authority” told zaman Alwasl that
3 million book for all grades have been printed out and another million is
coming in next stage.
Al-Mofti pointed out that books will suffice all
Syrian students in Turkey, and will cover about 25% of Syrian students in the
liberated areas in Idleb and its countryside, Aleppo and its countryside, al-Ghouta
near Damascus and al-Turkman mountains in Lattakia. He expressed worries about
difficulties in delivering books to al-Ghouta due to strict siege.
The Secretary- General of the science Authority
confirmed that they have finished printing books for primary grades and will
begin printing books for other grades. He added that priority will be for
Syrian students in Turkey, followed by students inside Syria. Some books will
be sent to the Liberated Syria Embassy in Qatar, to distribute them on Syrian schools
there, in conjunction with distributing books to displaced students in Lebanon
and Jordan.
In regard to the curriculum, Abdul Rahman
Quarrah, Executive Director of the Syrian Commission for Education was there in
the printing housed checking the procedure, he explained to Zaman Alwasl how
they revised the curricula saying: "We revised the curriculum already
taught in schools of the Ministry of Education in Syria, and we read and
searched it word by word to omit all ideas related to the Syrian regime ideology
which shifts students from the basic curriculum" Quarh also pointed out
that the coalition will have a significant role in printing and delivering
books to the liberated areas in next stages.
The Executive Director explained that the main
difficulty was in obtaining an integrated curriculum, noting that they were in
a process of revising English and French books for all stages.
From his side, Naim Mufti explained that the
biggest obstacle faced the workflow was restructuring or amending or revising the
curricula, explaining that a committee composed of 30 specialists in
educational mission revised the curricula to clean it from all thought
degrading the humanity and glorifying the “person” in the same time they kept
the basic educational material.
AL- Mufti admitted that there must be some
errors due to time constraints and the small size of the revising staff,
stressing that any mistake will be corrected in future.
The distinction between what is authentic between
the intruder, according to the Mufti , on the basis that it was the intruder
who miss the human intellect , and calls for the deification of the individual
at the expense of the student 's ability to innovate .
In regard to fund, the Secretary General of the
Authority mentioned that Qatar Charitable Society has funded nearly 600
thousand books and will be distributed to Syrian schools in Turkey. Dr, Abdel
Kader Sankari Humanitarian society covered costs of printing one million and
300 thousand books will be distributed in Aleppo and its countryside and Idlib.
Businessman and Engineer Walid Zubi funded another million to print which will
be distributed inside Syria.
It is worth mentioning that Syrian Commission
for Education is an independent civil organization, does not have any religious
or political orientations. It is interested in re- reforming the educational
process. It was established about 8 months ago by businessmen and experts in
psychology, sociology, teachers and academics, aims at compensate for the shortage
in education after the Syrian Revolution.
