(Zaman al-Wasl)- Perhaps regime forces personnel and their mercenaries who were killed in Deir ez-Zor raids on Saturday will get financial compensations from the United States.
The compensation will be paid to their parents according to what has been announced by an American official without mentioning any more details.
If it happened and Washington paid financial compensation to the families of the regime killed personnel, that would be an exceptional step for both parties; meaning Washington which has not paid any compensations for Syria and the families of the killed who got used to silly prizes by regime manifested in one sheep or two reaching offering a cheap clock or finding it sufficient to offer the Syrian flag.
On Saturday, American warplanes bombed regime locations in Tharda mountain in Deir ez-Zor killing 80 personnel in regime ranks and militias. Later, the U.S. made several announcements saying the bombing was a mistake and the American air force cannot deliberately bomb the Syrian army and they are sorry for what happened.
In the fall of 2008, 4 American helicopters penetrated the Syrian air by 8 kilometers towards al-Sukariye village in al-Bukamal countryside where the air strikes killed 8 Syrians all civilians and the regime and human rights organizations witnessed that. However, the regime did not ask for any compensation and the United States did not say anything regarding compensations.
During the years of the revolution, American warplanes more than once bombed civilians in different locations in Syria without being condemned by the regime since the victims are from “the communities hosting terrorism” or “participants in the universal conspiracy” according to regime. America was silent about these victims and ignored the possibility of offering any compensation.
Perhaps one of the recent examples- they are many- being what happened during the liberation battle of Manbij when American warplanes killed around 160 civilians including 40 children without Washington saying a word regarding compensations.
Two months ago, Washington officially admitted that it killed 55 civilians during its campaign on ISIS in Iraq and Syria whereas estimates show that civilians who were killed go beyond 1500 people and at least 600 civilians in Syria alone.
The question remains, what is the legal and moral ground on which Washington based its readiness to pay compensations to an army and regime which many know the type of mission it serves and the massacres committed by it while Washington is blind to offer any compensation to innocent civilians.
If anyone can make the two parties equal-those military personnel from regime and civilians victim-the question remains what one party is paid compensation while the other is not since the two are being targeted in the same way; by mistake as Washington said.
It is something worth thinking about that one mistake by Washington requires apology and compensation while other mistakes in many places pass by without notice.
