Syrian opposition cuts short Washington visit as Aleppo faces savage offensive

(Zaman Al Wasl)- The Syrian opposition's High Negotiation Committee said its  Head Riyad hijab and the accompanying delegation had cut their visit to the United States due to the unstoppable Russian and Syrian aggression on Aleppo province.

This step has coincided with an urgent meeting for the security council that discussed the outcomes of the brutal attacks of Russian and regime’s forces on Aleppo, that reduced the city into rubble, besides targeting all vital services like hospitals and medical centres which became out of service.

Previously, Hijab “mourned” the negotiation process with the regime commenting: “it is no longer appropriate to keep complimenting the killers under excuse of terrorism, because accepting killers’ conditions does not go with the Charter of the United Nations.

He confirmed: “we do not have the right to waive the Syrians rights, we will bring killers to justice and force them to stop killing, displacing an shelling, besides forcing them to release the humanitarian siege impose by al-Assad.”

The security council had held an urgent meeting called to by France, United State and Britain.

“War crimes are being committed here in Aleppo", French Ambassador Arancois Delattre told reporters: " they must not go unpunished and impunity, it is simply not an option in Syria."

While the British Ambassador Matthew Rycroft said: "Just when we thought things couldn't get any worse in Syria, they have”.

Moreover he added: “the incendiary munitions that are dropping on Aleppo are indiscriminate and a clear breach of international law, the barrel-busting bombs that are falling from the skies likewise".

Kerry commented about the situation in Syria and the brutal attacks: “Now I am saying this and I want to lay out these facts because it underscores why at this moment we just can’t do business as usual.

We can’t walk out of this room and say, okay, we’re going to try to continue or we’ll have a ceasefire that everybody knows can’t work. The facts require countries to restore credibility to this process. That’s what’s critical”.
