(Zaman Al Wasl)- Aleppo’s activists mourn the death of Ahmad Sindet the military leader of Jaish al-Islam in northern Syria following his killing by a thermobaric missile launched by the Russian warplanes. Sindet was in the village of Minyan that borders New Aleppo neighborhood after participating in its liberation on Saturday evening.
Ahmad Sindet was nicknamed as the “killer” in Aleppo based on his skills as a sniper. He was known among military circles as the first sniper of Aleppo, because he killed over 50 regime and pro-regime fighters in Aleppo. The record remains unmatched by any other resistance fighter in Aleppo.
Abu al-Sadiq Sindet’s friend witnessed his martyrdom after liberating the village of Minyan. He said to Zaman al-Wasl, “after we finished combing the village of Minyan and liberating it on Saturday night we approached the neighborhood of New Aleppo and took control over a number of buildings in the area.

We seized a BMB vehicle, equipment, ammunition, and the martyr was happy with the victory. After the evening prayer, a Russian airplane struck us, targeting our area with a thermobaric missile which led to his and a fighter from al-Badiya Brigade’s martyrdom.”
Abu Sadiq added, “the martyr Ahmad Sindet was an enlisted corporal, one of the first to dissent from the regime forces in the year 2011 in Aleppo, and one of the first rebels participating in demonstrations demanding freedom in the Boustan al-Qasr neighborhood. He was known for his good manners, his honesty, his dedication to his countrymen, and he comes from an old family from the Aleppian al-Klaset neighborhood. 68 men so far from this neighborhood far have been martyred for the Syrian revolution.”
Abu Sadiq clarified, “the killer was the first to carry arms in Boustan al-Qars and al-Klaset neighborhoods and he formed a brigade in the year 2012, and later joined the Aleppo al-Shahba’a Brigade to participate in liberating most of the eastern neighborhoods of the city, and he participated in a number of battles in Aleppo’s countryside, and then he joined Jaish al-Islam and with it forced the Tenth Brigade, and he was a central commander of Jasiah al-Islam in northern Syria.”
The field commander Abdul Aziz Maghrebi said to Zaman al-Wasl, “the martyr was one of the first who participated with us in the revolution and he was a primary instigator in his neighborhood in al-Klaset, and he was brave and worked openly and threatened thugs and they feared him and his group from the start of the revolution.”
Ahmad Sindet, the first sniper of Aleppo, leaves two children and his wife, who is pregnant with his third child behind. He fought on the battle fronts defending his land and people from Iranian occupation to guarantee a future for his and Syria’s children.
Sindet was martyred as part of the ongoing operation launched by the Syrian resistance, the Conquest of the Martyr Abu Omar Saraqib which aims to break the siege on the eastern neighborhoods of Aleppo and advance into western regime held neighborhoods of Aleppo.
