(Zaman al-Wasl)- Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) announced that Syrian Democratic Forces alliance (SDF) militia checkpoints and Asayish allowed return of more than 171 displaced families from Solouk town in Raqqa northern countryside to their homes after they fled them for more than year and a half following these forces seizure of the town.
Kurdish media outlets loyal to (PYD) said the return of these families came after (SDF) and Asayish restored security to the town and removed the mines from the civilians’ homes, pointing out that the first batch of returnees to their homes was on October 24.
A source told Zaman al-Wasl the population are returning to their homes in Solouk town via batches after their names are cleared on the security study list to prove they are not connected with Free Syrian Army, Ahrar al-Sham, Fateh al-Sham and ISIS.
The source added this mechanism prevented the majority of regime opponents to return to their homes. The militia’s personnel expelled women who returned to their homes without their names being on the security list.
The source said, “the majority of the town houses were burgled,” indicating that his houses and his brother’s house were robbed with 5 million value.
He indicated that the population of Solouk is 24000 people meaning that the return of 170 families only make up 10% of the population.
Hundreds of Solouk Population protested last June against the armed men of (PYD) militia demanding to return to their homes which were forcibly displaced from, but Peoples’ Protection Units (YPG), the armed wing of (PYD), suppressed the protesters and accused them of being ISIS affiliates.
Tens of thousands of civilians were forcibly displaced from their homes in Raqqa northern countryside especially in Tal Abyad and Solouk following the militia’s entrance to the area last year which provoked many local and international responses fearing the militia will ethnically cleanse the area as International Amnesty said in a report.
These militias led by (PYD) have launched an extensive attack since 10 days on ISIS-controlled areas aiming to isolate Raqqa city first and later to capture it, according to what (SDF) spokesman Tala Silo said in a press conference on Monday in al-Heesha village north of Raqqa.
(SDF) leaders revealed in the conference today they captured 34 villages, 31 farms and killed 167 ISIS member with the help of the International Coalition in the past 10 days.
(YPG) which is subordinate to Kurdish (PYD) had announced on June 14, 2015 their capture of Solouk town and tens of villages following clashes with ISIS in which International Coalition participated in paving the way aerially by bombing ISIS locations.
