Shibli, OTV’s hidden camera victim, will not sue the Lebanese channel

(Zaman Al Wasl)- The Syrian young man who was a victim of hidden camera episode broadcasted on the Lebanese channel (OTV) explained that the film had been filmed long time ago and he had not expected for the film to have that reaction, besides that he would not sue the channel.

Sadam al-Shibli, a Syrian young man from the countryside of Aleppo, have lived in Beirut for 12 years and studied acting and representation in Beirut University. He told Zaman al-Wasl that he during the hidden camera trap , he was worried the most about the gun he was given by a woman, and he was afraid that the barrier could have been real and he could have been in real troubles and losing his seat in university, because of that he followed the instructions of the “actors” at the barrier.

“Moreover, another scenario came to my mind that it might’ve been an attempt for abduction and those people had not been security members”, Shilbi detailed.
Shibli, known of Sultan Shibli as well, continued that he had felt relieved when he discovered that it had been a hidden camera trap, because of that he had not been angry when cameras were shown from behind the trees and the director had apologised to him and asked his permission to broadcast the trap.

Sadam revealed that at the time, the director Marcel Khadra, who had worked as an official on the barrier had not been aware that he was Syrian, especially his accent was Lebanese.

Sadam mentioned that he hold all responsibilities followed broadcasting the episode of the comedic programme “Hadi Albak”, mentioning that when he had agreed to broadcast the trap, had not expected to have all those reactions or to be considered damaging and humiliating to Syrians.

Al-Shibli explained that he regretted agreeing on broadcasting the episode adding that if he had been in a better emotional status after finishing the trap, he might’ve not agreed on broadcasting it.

He added that the most hurting aspect of the matter that people accused him of receiving money for doing the trap and he had used Syrian war and the dignity of Syrians to reach to fame.

He added that he did not think of suing OTV because he agreed on broadcasting the episode in the beginning and the video was broadcasted by his permission, added that he did not want to exaggerate the matter more.

Shibli was a victim of a hidden camera trap of comedy programme called “Hadi Albak” on Lebanese channel “OTV”. The scene of the trap was made on a security barrier and Shibli was stopped by actors who claimed to be security members, then they started to harass him and humiliate him, they forced him to take of his clothes and pretend to demonstrate. Broadcasting the video caused a wave of anger over the social media and considered it as intentional humiliating to Syrians and accused OTV channel of discrimination against Syrians and intending to humiliate them.
