(Zaman Al Wasl)- Regime forces based in the southern Damascus suburbs of Sidi Maqdad have been imposing royalties on the people of the next-door towns of Babila and Bait Sahem for allowing the entry of basic food staples, local reporter said.
The prices of basic items of food and vegetables increased due to regime imposing protection money on the items entering the region between 10 and 30% after a period in which Babila checkpoint subordinate to Palestine branch banned entrance of food and fuel to the area. Regime also tightens noose on population entering and exiting the towns south of the capital Damascus.
In a related context, Zaman al-Wasl observed some items’ prices south of Damascus on Tuesday after regime imposed protection money on its entrance: (a kilo of potatoes 300 SP, tomatoes 475 SP, rice 700 SP, eggs 1500 SP, spaghetti 650, tea 4300 SP, sunflower oil 900 SP, olive oil 2000 SP, yogurt 250 SP, milk 225 SP, cheese 2400 SP, Labneh 900 SP).
Markets of Yalda, Babila and Beyt Sahim witnessed unprecedented costumers coming to buy food items especially sugar and oil.
Zaman al-Wasl reporter said this current costumers activity comes after regime forces on Babila checkpoint tightened noose on entrance of food items in conjunction with hiding basic items especially sugar, oil, fuel by the tradesmen in the area and increasing the prices of rest of food items.
