Syrian refugees suffer as harsh storm hits Lebanon

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Weather in Lebanon has been affected on Wednesday by a storm coming from eastern Europe according to what Agricultural Scientific research institution in Lebanon said. The institution called the storm Noel.

Snow falls affected Irsal which hosts nearly 100000 Syrian refugees according to official data who are distributed on around 124 camps according to the municipality in Irsal town.

The weather on Wednesday evening transformed to windy with a very strong southern wind, pand icy rains with lighting and thunder and showers of hail which caused formation of floods.

The storm Noel as Abu Mulhem al-Zaini, one of the heads of the camps, comes amid total absence for any plan, relief program or rescue programs for the refugees in the camps. UNHCR, IRC, and other INGOs have neglected the situation facing the camps.
Al-Zaini added that most of the tents were ruined and are incapable of facing such strong storms in addition to lack of heating material and devices.

The suffering of refugees will not stop at Noel storm; they will also face Gemi storm next Tuesday according to the Agricultural Scientific research institute.

Refugees in the Syrian camps in Lebanon demanded from relief organizations to perform their role on the ground and to deal with the problems of the camps in a realistic way not through media and social media websites, hoping to face the emotions of the world not its storms according to al-Zaini.
