(Zaman Al Wasl)- A prominent commander of Ahrar al-Sham movement warned that the revolution is at crossing point and a decisive stage, where commanders’ decisions are extremely crucial, as no mistakes and experiments are allowed at this crucial period.
Labib al-Nahas, head of the office of external political relation of Ahrar al-Sham movement twitted on his account commenting on the merge among different rebels’ factions that has been highlighted recently : “many conspiracies are being made to destroy all who refuse merge already designed to suit some forces”.
He added that the battle field is being given two two options: either to merge and disappear within specific ideological project, or to face polarization. He suggested that choices are much more than those, but they always try to narrow the choices. he condemned panting and eagerness of some forces to do anything to achive their project, which make them move and make dangerous and deadly mistakes.
Al-Nahas warns that bringing ISIS’s members to Idlib and considered it a serious development, with disastrous outcomes if wise people of all factions do not move on time.
The commander of Ahrar al-Sham declared: “the real merge is not founded on secret agreements and threatening who refused joining or lead to isolating the revolution, it should rely on the real support of people, not on solid religious edicts, which threaten who refuse the merge of hell, it should not badly affect the operation rooms and damage the battle field to force others to merge.
In regard to latest agreement of Aleppo, he commented that political opportunists had asked politicians to find a solution to help them in getting out of Aleppo, but they refused to sign the agreement to keep their reputation clean. “it is too cheap to distrust the politicians who worked to save lives of thousands of our people in Aleppo”.
He added that Aleppo’s latest battle exposed the need to other tools rather than only military effort.
Al-Nahas repeated that merge should not be done without detailed evaluation and benefit of previous attempts, like what happen to the merge of “Jabha Shamiya”, which failed despite the close ideologies and principle among forces,. “what would happen in the merge of all those contradicting factions”.
He summarised that recent suggestions of merge are disastrous on revolution and battle field, where civilians would pay the price.
On December 17, a number of Islamist rebel groups in the town of Termanin, northern Idlib province, announced a new merger to unify rebel factions, and called all leaders of the Syrian jihad to unite, abandon divisions and labels, and to follow a single leader.
The statement announced merge was signed by former al-Qaeda affiliate, Fateh al-Sham Front, formerly known as al-Nusra Front, Ahrar al-Sham and Faylaq al-Sham, it had chosen Abu Hamza Termanin to lead the new rebel formation.
The move comes after Syrian regime forces and allies captured eastern Aleppo and evacuated it of civilians and fighters.
End of October, the political body of the General Body in Eastern Ghouta had proposed a “National Rescue Initiative” to merge the armed factions working in Eastern Ghouta in one army, under a new leadership, where new force would raise the revolution flag and adopt its goals and work to achieve them.
The initiative called to dissolve the remaining factions and to merge in the new army as well as establish the general leadership council in Eastern Ghouta consisting of the political body formed by the initiative and Military Shura Council.
Two weeks later, Ahrar al-Sham agreed on the initiative, also suggested extending the initiative to include Barzeh and Qaboun neighborhoods.
Faylaq al-Sham and Fajr al-Umma also agreed on the initiative, with some modification.
