(Zaman Al Wasl)- Islamic State on Sunday appointed new emir, or commander, in territory it controls in the southern suburbs of Damascus, dismissing Abu Hashem al-Khabouri, sources said.
The new Emir, Abu Ziad Saad, 40-year-old, who was born in Yalda suburb, was the radical group's financial in-charge before being assigned as the Islamic State prince in south Damascus.
According to the same source, Abu Ahmad al-Elami was assigned as the Islamic State’s new deputy prince. He is also from the town of Yalda. Abu Bakr Halaweh was assigned as the ISIS military commander in the capital's southern district.
The outskirt of al-Hajjar al-Aswad, ISIS main stronghold in southern Damascus, has witnessed a widespread resentment by the Islamic State fighters, following the news of the new appointment. Several members of the Islamic State have been arrested due to their rejection of the decision.
The source confirmed that Abu Sayah Farrameh was assigned the governor of Damascus, and Abu Mojahid as the principal of detainees and wounded persons within the Islamic State in Syria.
Farrameh was dismissed from his post as a prince of the Islamic State in 21 August 2016, as was Abu Mojahid who was acting as his deputy at that time. They left Damascus on 15 December 2016 to Beir al-Qassab before heading to al-Qalamoun area in Damascus countryside and living there.
The Islamic State forces control the city of al-Hajjar al-Aswad, al-Assali neighborhood, Yarmouk refugee camp, and parts of al-Tadamon neighborhood.
