FSA takes two villages from ISIS near al-Bab town

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Turkey-backed Free Syrian Army on Wednesday took two villages from ISIS in the eastern countryside of Aleppo and its main stronghold of al-Bab, local reporter said.

The capture of Abu al-Randain and al-Ghouz villages will halt regime advance west of ISIS-held town of al-Bab.

FSA factions backed by the Turkish and Russian warplanes seek al-Bab control after three months of heavy fighting. Activists said on Tuesday 5 people were killed in suspected Turkish strikes on the towns of al-Bab and Tadaef.

In relevant development, about 700 rebel fighters have defected from the Nour al-Din al-Zinki group, joining Turkey-backed Faylaq al-Sham in Aleppo province as their group preferred to take place in a newly-formed alliance including al Qaeda's former branch, sources said Tuesday.

Several Islamist factions including Fateh al-Sham said on Saturday they were joining forces, as clashes between jihadists and more moderate rebels raged on in northwestern areas.

An online statement issued by the Islamist factions said Haya't Tahrir al-Sham (Liberation of the Levant Committee) was formed to mend splits among rebel groups and strengthen opposition to the Syrian regime.

The signatories were Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, formerly al Qaeda's Nusra Front, the Nour al-Din al-Zinki group, Liwa al-Haqq, Jaish al-Sunna and Jabhat Ansar al-Din.

Jaish al-Shamal group has alos joined the Turkish-backed Faylaq al-Shma at the Turkish border.
