Syrian rebels use modest equipment in monitoring regime warplanes

(Eqtsad)- Saad Abu al-Izz, one of the rebel workers in monitoring the movements of regime and Russia warplanes in the northern province of Idlib, seemed absorbed in following up fighter jets minute by minute.

In the humble room which Saad uses for observation, the devices were releasing overlapping sounds of the Russian warplanes present in the air and Syrian Mig-24 which carried out its first raid on Idlib city.

Around four years ago, the wireless devices became widely used as means of communication in military and civil affairs; however, as regime cut the wire and wireless communication off the Syrian north, local communities restored to using the wireless devices after obtaining devices and modern stations which transfer broadcast to tens of kilometers.

Also, centers for aircraft observations were founded starting from Hama military airport to all regions in the Syrian north.

Saad who has been doing aircraft observations for years now said that, “the job is exhausting. We keep listening to the codes broadcasted by the regime and Russians to deployed pilots who do the sorties. We decipher the codes to know where they are heading. We also do macroscopic observation when the warplane enters the airs of the region where we are based.”

Source of income and revolutionary work

There are no parties funding the observations spread in the Syrian north. Saad points out that the centers get community funds from institutions and families in each area.
Saad presented few days ago a project to develop the devices of the observation and local community rushed to offer money to support and buy the required equipment.

Saad earns 25000 SP per month and he considers his work an important revolutionary work in addition to that it is his source of income to get by.
