(Zaman Al Wasl)- Kurdish PYd militia has arrested 25 Arab tribesmen in the northeastern village of Dhaileh in Hasaka province to join the fight against the Islamic State, activists said Saturday.
Source revealed that the Arab fighters were given Kurdish names to avoid ISIS reprisal.
The youth of al-Ghamer tribe was excluded from conscription within the Self-Defense forces of the Kurdish Self Administration because they are displaced from Raqqa and live in villages of Northern Hasaka for long period of time.
The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) which includes the powerful Kurdish YPG militia, the military wing of PYD, had launched its multi-phased campaign against ISIS last November, aimed at encircling and ultimately capturing Raqqa province.
The first phase of Euphrates Anger targeted areas north of Raqqa city. The second phase has started almost 6 weeks ago, targeting areas to the west of the city to capture the Islamic State-held Euphrates dam, besides encircling and controlling the road to militant strongholds in Deir Ezzor province.
