30 thousands petroleum incinerators in Deir Ezzor cause disease and air pollution

A video report was surfaced on the net showed the great and wide damage caused by the incinerators, which widely spread in Eastern regions of Syria. Those incinerators used to refine petrolum, which are considered an old and dangerous method of refining petroleum.

Fadi Jaber, the reporter, showed that incinerators have caused huge air pollution in Deir Ezzor, where there are more than 30 thousands one of them, emit their smoke in the air where people breathe it and causes them respiratory diseases.

Besides the air pollution, the report showed that incinerators causes damage of the soil and water sources, which could cause cancers and congenital malformation, if that phenomenon was not tackled.

The report has mentioned that areas like al-Zobari village and the area between Mohasan and al-Bolil have the highest number of oil incinerators.

Moreover, the report pointed out that there are many revolutionary bodies did their best to minimise the presence of incinerators. One strategy is preventing oil from reaching to them, in that case they would find nothing to refine.

On the other hand, people in the region request moving incinerators away from residential areas or get rid of them completely and using more efficient and modernised methods, with minimal health effects.
