(Zaman Al Wasl)- A military pilot who once served in Shayrat airport shed the light on strategic airbase that was hit early Friday by 59 US Tomahawk missiles in a disciplinary act by Donald Trump administration over the deadly chemical attack on Khan Sheikhoun town last Tuesday that left 103 civilians dead and 500 more were affected.
Shayrat military Airfield in 2012 contained two squadrons of 23 warplanes of Su-22, and a squadron of 16 warplanes of Mig-23, according to Abo Hassan, an engineer with a rank of General used to work in the airport.
During the Syrian revolution, fighters of the Syrian revolution had destroyed few warplanes, and many became out of service, which reduced the number to warplanes to almost 39 one distributed over three squadrons, however recently the number might have dropped to 25-28 planes, the engineer detailed.
