(Zaman Al Wasl)- Powerful Jaish al-Islam rebel group in southern Damascus district of Yalda has re-opened the main crossing with the besieged Yarmouk Camp after four days of closure that caused sever suffering and hike in prices, local activists said Wednesday.
Jaish al-Islam said the closure was to protect civilians of possible attacks by the Islamic State that controls neighborhoods in Yarmouk camp.
Palestinian activists launched Tuesday a campaign “Starving is The Weapon of Cowards” which highlighted the suffering of civilians due to the two-sided siege they are under: the regime’s and its allies from one side, and now factions are closing the last humanitarian barrier.
Activists published a statement explained that a new siege has been forced over civilians in the camp few days ago after closing the only barrier.
“there is no justification for any party of the conflict and they are responsible for the soaring prices that started to prevail in the camp”, the statement stressed and mentioned that the hunger would start to threaten besieged civilians again, holding commanders of Jaish al-Islam responsibility because it closed the barrier and prevented civilians, students and humanitarian conditions from crossing through.
The statement did not forget to hold responsibility to all organisations which claimed helping and relieving the Palestinians added to battalions of Aknaf al-Maqdis and al-Ohda al-Omariya brigade.
The statement ended: “all must hold responsibility toward thousands of our Palestinian people besieged inside Yarmouk and students who have their study interrupted due to closing the barrier”
