(Zaman Al Wasl)- Residents of Maarrat al-Numan in northern Idlib province on Sunday went to streets protesting the mounting abuses of Tahrir al-Sham, the powerful Islamist alliance that led by former al-Qaeda branch in Syria.
The protest followed tensions escalated last Thursday when Tahrir al-Sham group had stormed Free Syrian Army positions in Maarrat al-Nu’man, leaving several people killed and wounded, residents told Zaman al-Wasl.
Fighters of the former al-Qaeda affiliated branch, formerly known as the Nusra Front, has seized control of the bastions of Division 13 a day after the killing the military commander of Tahrir al-Sham in Maarrat al-Nu’man.
On Thursday, Tahrir al-Sham opened fire on tens of civilians who also protested against the jihadist group in the town.
This week, Tahrir al-Shma has also seized base of Faylaq al-Sham in al-Rakaya village in the southern countryside of Idlib.
